Collect a sample
Take a small finger-prick blood sample using an appropriate collection method.
AVENIS is advancing a modular approach to at-home blood testing: a reusable reader, assay-specific cartridges, and a connected experience. A focused product architecture with a clear path toward feasibility research and prototyping.
A reusable reader. Purpose-built cartridges. A connected experience. AVENIS brings these elements together in one focused product concept.

AVENIS reader · Product design concept
Five intuitive steps define the experience we're working toward.
Take a small finger-prick blood sample using an appropriate collection method.
Apply the sample to a disposable cartridge designed for a specific test.
Place the cartridge into the reusable AVENIS reader.
Targeted sensing chemistry and reader electronics would process the sample.
Review the results through an easy-to-understand digital experience.
Each cartridge category represents a potential future development track, with assay-specific research and validation.
Exploring potential glucose and metabolic monitoring applications.
Potential cholesterol and lipid-related test development.
Longer-term opportunities for select hormone biomarkers.
Future research into specific nutritional markers.
Blood testing plays a critical role in healthcare, but the experience is often built around appointments, travel, and waiting. AVENIS is pursuing a simpler vision: a personal diagnostics platform designed for convenience, affordability, and the potential to support more informed everyday health decisions.
A modular system designed around the realities of diagnostics: test-specific assay chemistry, shared reader hardware where technically feasible, and a consistent digital experience.
A thoughtfully designed reader intended to fit naturally into everyday environments.
A cartridge-based architecture designed to support focused development of individual tests.
A connected interface envisioned to make information easier to view and navigate.
At-home blood testing is not one measurement problem. It brings together sample collection, fluid handling, assay chemistry, signal detection, and interpretation. AVENIS is approaching these as an integrated system — with a reusable reader and test-specific cartridges.
See our development prioritiesSmall-volume blood collection introduces practical challenges in metering, transport, and sample quality. Cartridge-level fluid pathways offer a design direction for controlled sample handling.
ENGINEERING FOCUS · VOLUME, FLOW & CONSISTENCYGlucose, lipids, hormones, and other analytes can require different detection chemistries. Our modular approach allows each cartridge to be developed around the requirements of its intended biomarker.
SCIENTIFIC FOCUS · ASSAY SELECTION & SENSITIVITYSeparating the reader from the disposable test creates a clear product architecture: reusable electronics and a cartridge designed for a particular assay. The reader can be engineered around the sensing method selected.
PRODUCT FOCUS · MODULARITY & COST DESIGNResults are only useful when people can understand them. A connected interface can be designed to communicate measurements, test limitations, and longitudinal trends in a consistent way.
DESIGN FOCUS · CLARITY & DATA CONTINUITYOne reader. Purpose-built cartridges. A coherent experience that can grow test by test.
Our immediate objective is not to launch every test at once. It is to select a high-value first assay, prove the technical pathway, and build a credible foundation for a scalable product family.
Evaluate clinical relevance, assay complexity, sample requirements, and practical at-home use to prioritize an initial biomarker or small panel.
Work with diagnostics specialists to select a measurement method, assess analytical constraints, and define performance targets.
Combine a first cartridge, reader electronics, and a simple results interface into a testable engineering prototype.
Compare performance with appropriate reference methods and plan the quality, clinical, and regulatory work needed for future use.
AVENIS is seeking early capital and specialist partners to turn a defined modular diagnostics architecture into a focused first-assay feasibility program, a testable reader-and-cartridge demonstrator, and an evidence-led development plan.
We are seeking early funding, experienced scientific and engineering collaborators, and strategic partners to move AVENIS from platform concept into feasibility work and prototype development.
